Arthur was known as ‘Dickie’ to most people and served in Iraq with 70 Squadron during the interwar years. As wireless operator he flew regularly on bombing raids and personnel transport. He told us so much of his time during that period but always said he couldn’t talk about his war work. We later found out he spent WW2 as a wireless interceptor listening in to enemy code communications which got sent to the code breaking site at Bletchley Park.
