My father served in the Blackwatch Regiment, 6th Battalion, in Italy including Monte Cassino. Wounded in battle at Rimini by a sniper bullet, back into action two weeks later.
He then served in Crete and ended up in Belgium at the end of WW2.
Transferred to the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and stationed in Palestine 1946-47. I received his GSM for Palestine after he passed away in 2006, he died never knowing he had that medal.
He was a brave soldier, a wonderful father, never to be forgotten
