Albert Crook
My father, Albert Crook, was conscripted into the Army, aged 19, in 1940.
He became a motorbike despatch rider in the Royal Signals and served in Italy & North Africa. I know very little about his time in the war as he didn’t like to talk about it.
In this photo he is riding pillion with a pal. Dad loved motorbikes all his life and, after coming home from the war, he joined a motorbike club where he enjoyed taking part in motorcycle scrambling. It was in the motorbike club that he met my mother.
